Primer premio a Javier Almalé Pascual por su obra In Situ. Olafur Eliasson, Utopia Project.

Segundo premio a Rubén Acosta Morales por su obra Parálisis en Business Bay-Dubai.

Tercer premio a Damián Ucieda Cortés por su obra Still Life Nº V. Office Building nº 1.

Asimismo, y para incluirse en la edición de un catálogo previsto también en las Bases de este Premio, el Jurado seleccionó otras siete obras, cuyos autores son: Raúl Baratas Matallanas, Óscar Carrasco Ragel, Emilio Muñoz Blanco, María Carmen Isasi Martínez, Guillermo Llobet, María Eugenia Blázquez Rodríguez y Alfonso Batalla de Antonio.

FOTOFESTIWAL 2011

Friday evening, 6 May, will be closed with slideshows. We invite specialists to work on the programme every year. This year, this task has been given to editors of online photo magazines. We will have a chance to see the special Fotofestiwal selection of works presented last year in 1000 Words Magazine, Poncz Magazine and Lapsus Magazine.

A series of curator presentations during night slideshows was started two years ago. Its basic goal is to follow interesting people of the contemporary world of photography – curators, and, most of all, artists.

Slideshows are created exclusively for Fotofestiwal. Perfect selection of works by curators and carefully picked music result in unique presentations.

La exposición que se presenta en Moscú es una selección de entre las más de 1.000 obras que integran la Colección Arte Contemporáneo depositada en el Museo Patio Herreriano de Valladolid, una de las más importantes colecciones de arte español que existen en España. Las obras que viajan a Moscú darán a conocer al público ruso la enorme variedad y complejidad del arte español materializada en diversas disciplinas, desde la pintura hasta la instalación pasando por la fotografía, la escultura y el vídeo. Todos los artistas presentes en la muestra son esenciales a la hora de trazar el mapa de la creación contemporánea de las artes plásticas en España: Jorge Galindo, José Manuel Ballester, Laura Torrado, Damián Ucieda, Juan Uslé, Cristina Lucas y Ángela de la Cruz destacan entre los casi 40 artistas participantes.. La muestra ha sido comisariada por María Corral y financiada por Técnicas Reunidas S.A. y Alliance Capital de Rusia, y es un brillante ejemplo de mecenazgo empresarial y de colaboración hispano-rusa, ambos motivos conductores y ejes del Año Dual España-Rusia.

The exhibition is organized within Russia — Spain Year 2011 with the support of «Alliance» Oil Company (Russia) and Técnicas Reunidas (Spain)
The project presents works by Spanish artists form the collection at the Patio Herreriano Museum. The Museum opened in the city of Valladolid in 2002. Its collection comprises oeuvres by Spanish masters dated from 1918 to the present, which have been aquired by the Association «Contemporary Art Collection» since 1987. The Collection counts over 1000 works, and is considered to be the biggest collection of contemporary Spanish art. The works acquired by Spanish prívate companies are donated to the Association and are exhibited at the Patio Herreriano Museum.
The curator of the exhibition is the chief coordinator of the Collection — Maria de Corral, world famous art historian. For the project in Moscow she has selected works which best illustrate the full spectrum of contemporary Spanish art. The exhibition will include a range of works in various media — painting, video, photography, installation, sculpture, drawings — created in the past decade, and will feature artists who are all important figures in the contemporary Spanish art scene.
The key theme selected for the show by Maria de Corral is the interplay of fiction and reality. The curator states that the past decade forced us to review the notions of the real and the virtual worlds. With the development of new technologies the gap between reality and fiction has become enormous. Fiction and reality are the new source of inspiration for the artists of this century.
The first exhibition room presents photography. Almost all works feature people. Photographs by artists Damián Ucieda and Laura Torrado create the illusion of action. Whereas Damiàn’s characters look like imaginary film actors, Laura Torrado makes up theatrical scenes marked by incredible femininity. In the works by the artists’ duo Cabello and Carceller girls dress up as David Bowie and Brad Pitt, and Txomin Badiola unfolds before the viewer a multi-episode drama.

Todo cuanto hicimos fue insuficiente es un planteamiento en primera persona del plural —y en pasado— que denota la posibilidad de una emancipación colectiva proyectada a futuro. Los artistas de la propuesta tienen como nexo de unión la construcción de un imaginario muy amplio el que aparecen conectados la tensión entre lo individual y lo colectivo, la idea de masa, el conflicto social y la idea de un sujeto global puesto en duda. Las obras seleccionadas trabajan desde una poética documental a veces llevada al límite de la ficción y muestran la dificultad de construirnos en soledad. Son imágenes en las que hay mucho más de lo que se cuenta. Nota de prensa

“All we did was not enough” is an approach in first person plural -and in the pastdenoting the possibility of a collective emancipation projected into the future. The selected artists are linked by the common feature of constructing a very broad imaginary in which the tension between the individual and the collective are connected, the idea of mass, social conflict and the idea of the individual are put in doubt. The selected artworks display a documentary of poetics sometimes taken to the limit of fiction. They are images in which much more than what it is told can be found. Press Release
